Krid Wilaiolarn, Kittisan Sriruksa, Teerayut Pengchai, The Background of Souvenirs in Luang Prabang, Journal of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Volume 15,Issue 6, 2020, Pages 1251-1256, ISSN 1816-949x, jeasci.2020.1251.1256, (https://makhillpublications.co/view-article.php?doi=jeasci.2020.1251.1256) Abstract: The article on examine the background of souvenirs in Luang Prabang was the objectives of studying the background of the souvenirs in Luang Prabang. This article is part of the research on the factors that affects the process of souvenir making in Luang Prabang. The tools used in this research were field surveys, participatory observation, structured interviews nad group discussions with 50 villagers: 10 experts, 30 practitioners and 10 other people who are related to the issue. The results from the study showed that the background of souvenirs in Luang Prabang had its development on the meaning of the souvenirs according to four different eras: pre-Lan Xang kingdom era, Lan Xang kingdom era, post-Lan Xang kingdom era and World Heritage era. The changes that had happened were linear changes starting from Luang Prabang city in the past, when the household appliances and handicrafts became part of the tributes, gifts, presents, royal appliances nad eventually became part of the souvenirs that can be seen in Luang Prabang today.
