It is a signal converter that mediates the communication between a computer and the telephone network. It is an essential component of every network installation. The modem is entirely dependent upon telephone lines for communication. Busy telephone lines and line faults always pose a problem for a computer professional. Also the limited bandwidth of telephone lines limits the maximum rate of transmission of data that can be attained by modem. So in order to overcome the constraints of conventional modem, there comes a new concept called as wireless modem which transmits and receives data in the RF band thus eliminating the need of telephone lines totally with much improved bandwidth. The present study deals with software implementation of wireless modem using RS232 cable. ER -
