The study adopted a quasi-experimental, pre-test, post-test control group design. Independent t-test and simple percentage were used to analyse the quantitative data at 0.05 significant level while the qualitative data were analysed descriptively. Data were collected through Typewriting Achievement Test (TAT), Typewriting Lesson Note (TLN), Typewriting Programmed Instruction (TPI) and semi-structured interview guide. The findings showed that there was no significant difference in the pre-test mean scores of experimental and control groups as well as the post-test mean scores of students exposed to Computer Assisted Programmed Instruction (CAPI) based on gender. Meanwhile, a significant difference in the post-test mean scores of both experimental and control groups was found. The research outcome further indicated that majority of the students were positively disposed to learning typewriting with CAPI. ER -
