The modern day power electronic control systems have contributed much for the speed, torque and power control schemes of the three phase induction motor drives. In this study, an online faulty switch indication method is designed and demonstrated using simulations in the Matlab/Simulink environment. An experimental verification is also presented that has been developed in the ARM processor LPC 2148. The back propagation feed forward artificial neural network has been the core of the system in identification of the faulty switch based on a pattern mapping scheme considering the current drawn by the motor and the terminal voltage across the motor.
