This study discusses the role of transparency of information in building image and credibility in accordance with the regulation of the Republic of Indonesia No. 14 of 2008, on public information. The purpose of this research is to describe and analyses the openness of government institutions to establish image and credibility in society. The method used in this study is qualitative with the support of online data searches to produce a description of the implementation of transparency in Indonesia. The findings of the study are threefold: government institutions lack understanding of information transparency there are some ongoing efforts to establish information management units and openness is needed to build the image and credibility of institutions.
