A complete set of basic equations for a new DC pump MHD to present a simplified MHD flow model based upon steady state, incompressible and laminar flow theory to investigate the characteristics of a new DC pump MHD is proposed in this article; finite volume method to solve both electromagnetic and hydrodynamic model under code DCPMHD. It is concluded that active part is necessary in the design of our pump; it indicated that the thrust performance depends on the electrode length and channel ray and appeared to favor L2 = 0.08m, Rch= 0.03 m as an optimized dimensions. The numerical results of the performance characteristic of a DC electromagnetic pump are discussed and shows that our new conception capable to delivering bi-directional activation.
