Abstract

In the last decades computer-mediated communication has got a central position in innovation activities. This development raised the question on the effects of computer-mediated communication on the very essential creative performance of such teams. This study investigates this question by looking at the fraction of computer-mediated communication of the problem-solving and friendly communication network. The executed analyses of variance confirm that there are statically significant differences between teams that exclusively, partly, or not at all use computer-mediated communication to solve problems or to communicate friendly with respect to their creative performance. As it is graphically illustrated innovation teams that employ flexible ways using both face-to-face and computer-mediated communication have the highest creative performance.
