Abstract

To obtain the precise diagnosis of the skin biopsy, it should be accompanied by all clinical details. The interpretation of many skin biopsies requires the identification and integration of two different morphological features‐the tissue reaction pattern and the pattern of inflammation. Biopsy of clinically diagnosed/suspected cases of papulosquamous lesions was performed in the Department of Dermatology and sent to the Department of Pathology in 10% formalin. The specimen obtained was subjected for tissue processing after fixation. Among 100 cases of papulosquamous skin lesions, most patients were clinically diagnosed to have psoriasis 49% followed by lichen planus 44 percent. The non‐infectious erythematous skin lesions encountered in our study were psoriasis (44%), lichen planus (40%), pityriasis rosea (3%), seborrheic dermatitis (3%), pityriasis rubra pilaris (2%) and lichen nitidus 2 percent.
