Abstract

Malaysian children and teenagers or what we call the younger generations, lately have been exposed and flooded by the huge and vast market of 2 and 3D games. Though, within the huge market and selection of all kinds of variety and genre of games, <1% of those games are locally developed games. Lately with the rises of local 3D animation industry, it’s not far fetch to raise the awareness of developing 3D games scene in Malaysia. The focus of this research is to look into the development of 3D games that includes the usage of Malaysian culture iconic visual styles such as backgrounds, lifestyles, scenery, common everyday objects, character archetypes and narrative (storytelling). Also, to includes local real-world situation as a situation and the mission of the games itself. Therefore, we hope that this research will benefit the younger generation by highlighting the meaning and importance of Malaysian culture.
