Stress is not in our environment, it is what we perceive in our mind and body. The first year MBBS students are more prone to stress due to hectic schedule, academic pressure, cultural and environmental change. The main aim is to study relations between the stress and Body Mass Index in the first year medical students .A cross sectional study conducted among the 139 first year students of RMC including 71 males and 68 females with age group of 18‐23 years. After approval from ethical committee, data was collected by using questionnaire. The stress score was assessed by ASS and PSS score scale. The height and weight was obtained by using weighing machine and stadiometer. BMI was calculated with the formula weight (kg) height (sq m2). The development of effective strategies for managing of stress for medical students is necessary nowadays. This can delay the onset and progression of obesity and prevent complications.
