Abstract
Video shot is the basic component of video file. Shot Boundary Detection (SBD) is the process of segmenting video sequence into its shots. SBD is a very important step for further analysis in video processing. Various methods for detecting video shot boundaries have been proposed. Although, the importance of the step of boundary detection, few studies on shot boundary detection have been published, these studies have focused on limited range of SBD methods. In this study, an extended study of SBD is presented. This study classifies shot boundary detection methods based on the level they work on and most recent methods are investigated as well.
