This study describes the behaviour of manufacturing industry companies registered from 2012-2017, in the state of Huila, Colombia. A retrospective observational descriptive study was performed with the source of information being a national database (Registro Unico Comercial y Social, RUES), taking into account only registered manufacturing industry companies, their economic activity, sizes and locations. A direct association was found between micro and small companies and survival, likewise, a direct association between company size and economic activity was registered. These results may help in design and implementation of future projects that improve companies development and regional productivity.
